How We Certify Your Pieces

1. Inspect for Hallmarks

The first step involves us looking at your item(s) for any so-called “Hallmarks.”
Hallmarks are official markings on precious metal jewelry that can give an indication to the purity and metal used. This helps us establish a baseline for the true worth of your product, especially if it contains special qualities.

2. Electronic Gold Test

Gold My Way also utilizes a state of the art electronic probe test which is in the top of its class. Using this tool our experts are able to tell the exact purity of your gold and platinum with just the touch of a wand.

3. Conduct an Acid test.

The next step (which is standard in the industry) involves us testing for the purity of precious metals (especially gold) by treating a small area with acid. This quick test takes a few minutes and is extremely effective at establishing purity.

H3. XRF Machine

Our last testing procedure involves using a XRFmachine to give us total understanding of your item(s). This machine (X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer) utilizes x-ray technology to depict a complete picture of the purity of the item, and accurately assesses the value of any precious metals.

What Types of Gold Do We Buy?

At Gold My Way, we accept all kinds of gold … yellow, white, and rose. Unfortunately, we cannot accept gold-plated items at this time.

As you may know, gold is defined by several different purities (aka karats or K’s). Usually, gold comes in 9kt, 10kt, 14kt, 18kt, 22kt, and 24kt and sometimes comes in other purities as well. Gold My Way will accept any gold within those established purity ranges and ensure that you receive full and optimum value for any pieces you choose to sell to us.

Your Questions Answered.

Q: What About Diamonds?

Yes, Gold My Way will happily accept natural diamonds in any shape or size. We employ certified professionals, some of which have been in the jewelry business for 30 years or more, who are skilled and able to accurately assess any diamonds you send us.

If you would like your diamond(s) appraised, we recommended that you also send in any certificates that can establish the clarity, cut, carat size, and color of the diamond. If you do not have a certificate, not to worry! One of our diamond experts will appraise the jewel using our industry-standard practices.

We accept certificates from any of the common U.S. systems, including:

  • Gemological Institute of America (GIA)
  • American Gemological Society (AGS)
  • European Gemological Laboratory USA (EGL USA)
